It may not often be seen as the best game in the arena of gaming, but keno has millions and millions of dedicated followers. And it should! It’s a regularly exciting lottery-style game that’s a snap to learn, abundantly available in several assorted styles, and one that may yield millions of dollars for people who master its many subtle nuances. But let’s deal with the basics here.

When explaining keno to newbies, some betting connoisseurs compare it to bingo. This is at least to a certain extent apt, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. But to carry that comparison too far will be to think too little of the innumerable unique aspect that make keno so interesting. Unlike bingo, keno players have the ability to select the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the player is furnished with an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as numerous (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your handpicked numbers with a normalpen like you had when you were in school.

Once you’ve picked your numbers, take your keno card back to the girl at the keno stand. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Make sure no to misplace this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers you and wants help out, without a winning slip on you, you will collect precisely $.00 for your time spent.

And there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno slip. Let’s get on to something a little more advanced, yes?

Once you’ve picked your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and see the action take place on the screen. That’s where the winning numbers show up for all to see. If you selected winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to move to slowly, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You really want to get back to the keno booth to get your winnings, and then a new round of keno will likely get going within 5 minutes.

Strategy number two: always make sure to get back to the keno booth on time!

Since you can’t trust yourself to meet that 5 minute margin each time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the very same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from two to twenty slips. When the maximum number of keno games (fitting the amount of tickets) is completed, you are then able to get off your numb bum and go collect your winnings.

Another option is recognized as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which commonly allows you make number choices for thirty keno games or more. Golly, you can take vacation to France and not have to worry about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

So now you have learned a couple of indispensable strategies for winning keno. If you are an advanced user, they might seem very obvious. Still, it won’t hurt to bone up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner user, every little bit of information will help make your keno playing more enjoyable.
