It will not generally be thought of as the sexiest game in the realm of wagering, but keno has millions and millions of fanatical fans. And it should! It’s a always exciting lottery-like game that’s simple to pickup, readily available in many alternate formats, and one that can pay out millions of dollars for gamblers who master its countless subtle nuances. But let’s start with the beginner’s rules here.

When explaining keno to novices, some gaming connoisseurs compare it to lotto. This is at least partially correct, in that both games are generally numerical. However, to take that comparison too far might be to discount the good many unique traits that make keno so entertaining. Not like bingo, keno gamblers have the ability to choose the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the gambler is furnished with an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a keno superstar to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your handpicked numbers with a standardpen like you had when you were a kid.

After you have marked your numbers, carry the game card back to the person at the keno booth. The nice person will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your mug and would like to help out, without a winning slip with you, you will win exactly $.00 for your time spent.

OK, so there you have strategy number one: always be sure to keep your keno receipt. Let’s move to something a tiny bit more complex, shall we?

Now that you’ve checked off your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and see the action unfold on a video monitor. This is where the winning numbers are displayed in lights. If you have winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You must get back to the keno booth to collect your winnings, and a new drawing will probably start within 5 minutes.

Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you do not trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the max amount of keno games (matching the amount of tickets) is played out, you can then get off your numb bum and go retrieve your winnings.

Another alternative is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which commonly lets you make number picks for thirty rounds or more. Heck, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to fret about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!

So now you have learned a few needed methods for winning keno. If you are a good player, they might seem to be stupidly obvious. However, it doesn’t hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a newbie keno player, every bit of advice will help make your keno gambling more fun.
