It will not often be deemed the most fun game in the universe of gambling, but keno has millions and millions of dedicated enthusiasts. And so it should! It’s a regularly exciting lottery-style game that’s easy to learn, readily available in several alternate formats, and one that can return millions for those who learn its innumerable subtle intricacies. But let’s start with the basics here.

When defining keno to amateurs, some wagering masters compare it to bingo. This is at least partially correct, in that both games are generally numerical. However, to carry that comparison too far would be to discount the innumerable unique traits that make keno so compelling. Unlike bingo, keno players have the ability to select the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the user is granted an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to choose as many (or as few) numbers as he or she wants. And it doesn’t take a super genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your handpicked numbers with a normalpen like you used when you were in grade 3.

After you’ve marked your numbers, carry your card back to the keno pit manager at the keno stand. The nice person will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Make sure no to drop this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and would like to help out, without a winning slip with you, you will collect exactly $.00 for your time spent.

And there you have strategy #1: always be sure to keep your keno ticket. Let’s move on to something a little more useful, ok?

Now that you’ve marked your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and see the action take place on a video monitor. This is where the winning numbers show up for all to see. If you marked winners, mark your card accordingly. Sake care not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get back to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, and a new keno game will probably begin within a few minutes.

Strategy number 2: always go back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you can not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty slips. When the maximum amount of keno games (the same as the amount of tickets) is completed, you are then able to get off your numb butt and go retrieve your winnings.

Yet another choice is referred to as a "stray and play" keno slip, which usually allows you make number picks for 30 rounds or more. Heck, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to worry about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

And now you have learned a number of indispensable strategies for winning keno. If you are a good user, they may seem to be incredibly obvious. Still, it doesn’t hurt to brush up on the basic tactics, and if you are a novice keno player, every bit of information will help make your keno playing time more captivating.
