Keno Tactics That Work
It won’t often be deemed the most fun game in the realm of gambling, but keno has loads of devout supporters. And it should! It’s a routinely thrilling lottery-style game that’s easy to learn, readily available in lots of alternate formats, and one that may yield millions for those who master its innumerable subtle nuances. But let’s start with the beginner’s rules for now.
When defining keno to beginners, some wagering pros compare it to lotto. This is at least in some ways apt, in that both games are basically numerical. But to carry that comparison too far will be to downplay the endless unique aspect that make keno so fun. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the freedom to select the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the user is given an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to choose as many (or as few) numbers as he feels they need. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your selected numbers with a good oldmarker like you had when you were a kid.
Once you’ve checked your numbers, take your keno card back to the person at the keno stand. The nice person will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your mug and would like to help out, without a winning slip in hand, you will get precisely $.00 for your actions.
OK, so there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno ticket. Let’s get on to something a little more useful, shall we?
After you’ve checked off your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and watch the action unfold on a big video monitor. This is where the winning numbers appear for us. If you’ve got winners, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You must get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, as a new round of keno will certainly begin within 5 minutes.
Strategy number 2: always go back to the keno booth on time!
Since you can’t trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline every time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from two to twenty tickets. When the max number of games (the same as the number of tickets) is completed, you can then get off your lazy butt and go retrieve your winnings.
Yet another option is known as a "stray and play" keno card, which generally allows you make number selection for 30 keno rounds or more. Golly, you can take all the time in the world and not have to fret about getting back in time to get your winnings. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
