It won’t generally be looked at as the most fun game in the world of betting, but keno has millions and millions of passionate admirers. And it should! It’s a constantly exciting lotto-esque game that’s easy to play, abundantly available in loads of alternate styles, and one that can pay out millions for gamblers who learn its endless subtle nuances. But let’s start with the basics for now.

When explaining keno to novices, some gaming pros compare it to lotto. This is at least in some measure correct, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. But to carry that comparison too far would be to devalue the endless unique aspect that make keno so compelling. Not like bingo, keno users have the power to select the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the user is granted an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to determine as numerous (or as few) numbers as he feels they need. And it doesn’t take a genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your picked numbers with a normalball point pen like you used when you were in third grade.

Now that you’ve picked your numbers, take the game card back to the keno pit manager at the keno stand. The clerk will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Make sure no to drop this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your mug and wants help out, without a winning ticket on you, you will collect exactly $.00 for your time spent.

Now there you have strategy numero uno: always take care to keep your keno receipt. Let’s go on to something a tiny bit more complicated, yes?

Now that you’ve checked off your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and see the action take place on a big video monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are shown for all to see. If you picked winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Sake care not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You need to get back to the keno stand to collect your winnings, since a new round of keno will probably begin within five minutes.

Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you do not trust yourself to make that five-minute margin each and every time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from two to twenty tickets. When the maximum amount of keno games (the same as the number of tickets) is played out, you are then able to get off your lazy butt and go collect your winnings.

Another choice is known as a "stray and play" keno card, which commonly allows you make number choices for 30 keno rounds or more. Golly, you can take all the time in the world and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!

So now you know a few required methods for winning keno. If you are a skillful gambler, they may appear to be incredibly obvious. Still, it will not hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a novice gambler, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno playing time more entertaining.
