It may not usually be thought of as the most lucrative game in the field of betting, but keno has millions of fanatical admirers. And why not? It’s a regularly exciting lottery-style game that’s a snap to pickup, abundantly available in tons of alternate formats, and one that will return mega-dollars for those who master its many subtle rules. But let’s start with the basic rules for now.

When defining keno to amateurs, some gambling pros compare it to bingo. This is at least to some extent correct, in that each game is essentially numerical. Even if the keno pit manager remembers you and would like to help out, without a winning ticket in hand, you will get exactly $.00 for your time spent.

So, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno ticket. Let’s move to something a little bit more complicated, ok?

After you’ve picked out your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and see the action take place on the screen. This is where the winning numbers are shown for us. If you picked winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to take too much time, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You must get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, and a new round of keno will almost certainly begin within a few minutes.

Strategy number two: always get back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you do not trust yourself to meet that five-minute margin every time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty cards. When the maximum amount of games (matching the number of tickets) is finished, you should then get off your numb rump and go get your winnings.

Still another opportunity is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which generally lets you make number selection for thirty rounds or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to retrieve your winnings. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
