It might not commonly be considered the sexiest game in the realm of gambling, but keno has massive amounts of devout followers. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a consistently exciting lotto-esque game that’s simple to master, abundantly available in tons of different variations, and one that can return mega-dollars for gamblers who master its uncounted subtle nuances. But let’s begin with the beginner’s rules for now.

When explaining keno to newbies, some gambling experts compare it to lotto. This is at least in part correct, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to take that comparison too far will be to detract from the good many unique characteristics that make keno so interesting. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the power to pick the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the player is accord an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to select as many (or as few) numbers as she wants. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your selected numbers with a good oldpen like you had when you were in school.

After you have picked your numbers, take the card back to the clerk at the keno stand. The clerk will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning ticket in hand, you will get precisely $.00 for your winning card.

OK, so there you have strategy number one: always be sure to keep your keno receipt. Let’s get on to something a bit more complicated, shall we?

After you’ve marked your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and observe the action unfold on the big keno monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are displayed in lights. If you’ve got winners, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to drag your feet, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You must get up to the keno booth to collect your winnings, as a new keno game will probably get going within five minutes.

Strategy #2: always make it back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you can not trust yourself to make that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 tickets. When the max amount of keno games (the same as the number of tickets) is finished, you will then be able to get off your numb bum and go redeem your winnings.

Yet another option is known as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which commonly allows you make number picks for 30 keno rounds or more. Golly, you can take a world tour and not have to worry about getting back in time to collect your winnings. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

So now you know a number of essential schemes for winning keno. If you are an accomplished user, they may seem to be quite obvious. But it will not hurt to study up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner gambler, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno playing more agreeable.
