It won’t commonly be considered the most fun game in the arena of gambling, but keno has loads of zealous supporters. As well it should! It’s a routinely thrilling lotto-ish game that’s easy to learn, readily available in many alternate formats, and one that can pay out mega-dollars for those who master its heaps of subtle nuances. But let’s start with the basic rules here.

When describing keno to newcomers, some betting experts compare it to lotto. This is at least in some measure apt, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to take that comparison too far can be to miscalculate the innumerable unique traits that make keno so fun. Not like bingo, keno players have the ability to choose the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the user is granted an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as he desires. And it doesn’t take a genius to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your chosen numbers with a good oldpen like you had when you were in grade 3.

Once you’ve checked your numbers, carry the game card back to the person at the keno booth. The girl will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not drop this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning slip in hand, you will get exactly $.00 for your winning card.

Now there you have strategy number one: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let us get on to something a bit more advanced, yes?

Now that you’ve selected your numbers, get yourself into a comfy keno booth and watch the action unfold on a monitor. That’s where the winning numbers appear for all to see. If you have winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to drag your feet, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You want to get up to the keno booth to collect your winnings, and then a new keno game will almost certainly begin within five minutes.

Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Since you do not trust yourself to make that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty tickets. When the maximum amount of rounds (matching the amount of tickets) is played out, you are then able to get off your numb bum and go retrieve your winnings.

Yet another choice is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which generally allows you make number selection for 30 keno rounds or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!

So now you are aware of a handful of indispensable methods for winning keno. If you are an experienced gambler, they may seem to be quite obvious. However, it won’t hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a new player, every little bit of information will help make your keno wagering more enjoyable.
