Keno Tactics That Win

It won’t usually be considered the most fun game in the field of wagering, but keno has loads of passionate admirers. And so it should! It’s a regularly entertaining lotto-ish game that’s a breeze to learn, readily available in tons of alternate variations, and one that might pay out mega-dollars for those who learn its heaps of subtle nuances. But let’s start with the basics here.

When defining keno to beginners, some gaming experts compare it to the lottery. This is at least partly correct, in that each game is essentially numerical. But to take that comparison too far would be to underestimate the countless unique traits that make keno so exciting. Unlike bingo, keno players have the freedom to select the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the gambler is furnished with an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as he wants. And it doesn’t take a genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your selected numbers with a good oldball point pen like you had when you were in grade 3.

After you’ve selected your numbers, carry the card back to the person at the keno booth. The person will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers you and would like to help out, without a winning receipt on you, you will collect precisely $.00 for your efforts.

And there you have strategy number one: always take care to keep your keno receipt. Let us move to something a little bit more complex, ok?

Once you’ve picked out your numbers, get yourself into a nice keno booth and observe the action take place on a video monitor. That is where the winning numbers are displayed for us. If you checked winning numbers, mark your card aptly. Sake care not to dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You really want to get back to the keno stand to get your winnings, as a new round of keno will probably start within a few minutes.

Strategy number two: always go back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you can’t trust yourself to make that five-minute margin every time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" ticket. These include the very same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from two to 20 tickets. When the max amount of keno games (the same as the amount of tickets) is played out, you will then be able to get off your numb rump and go redeem your winnings.

Yet another option is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually lets you make number selection for 30 keno games or more. Golly, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to fret about getting back in time to retrieve your winnings. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after purchase!

So now you know a couple of indispensable strategies for winning keno. If you are an accomplished gambler, they might seem quite obvious. But it doesn’t hurt to brush up on the basics, and if you are a novice gambler, every little bit of information will help make your keno experience more exciting.
