It may not usually be considered the sexiest game in the realm of betting, but keno has massive amounts of steadfast enthusiasts. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a regularly thrilling lotto-ish game that’s a breeze to master, abundantly available in many assorted styles, and one that may pay out mega-dollars for those who learn its endless subtle rules. But let’s start with the beginner’s rules for now.
When explaining keno to newcomers, some betting experts compare it to bingo. This is at least nearly correct, in that each game is fundamentally numerical. But to take that comparison too far will be to belittle the innumerable unique traits that make keno so compelling. Unlike bingo, keno users have the ability to choose the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is granted an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as many (or as few) numbers as she wants. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your selected numbers with a normalball point pen like you used when you were in school.
After you’ve marked your numbers, take your game card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning ticket in hand, you will collect precisely $.00 for your efforts.
And there you have strategy numero uno: always be sure to keep your keno slip. Let us advance to something a bit more advanced, ok?
After you’ve selected your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and observe the action unfold on the video monitor. This is where the winning numbers appear in lights. If you picked winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Sake care not to move to slowly, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You really want to get back to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, as a new keno game will probably start within a few minutes.
Strategy number two: always go back to the keno booth on time!
Since you can not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute margin each and every time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty tickets. When the max number of rounds (the same as the number of tickets) is completed, you can then get off your lazy bum and go get your winnings.
Another opportunity is recognized as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which generally allows you make number selection for thirty rounds or more. Heck, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to worry about getting back in time to redeem your winnings. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!
And now you know a couple of indispensable techniques for winning keno. If you are a discerning player, they may seem to be incredibly obvious. But it won’t hurt to bone up on the basic practices, and if you are a new user, every tiny bit of advice will help make your keno experience more captivating.
